Now at £7.45, the Living Wage campaign site with videos and info. Sheffield Council are going to pay it, Milliband likes itas does Boris. IDS wants taxpayers to subsidise it… while others suggest raising the tax floor would get the minimum wage to equal it. But we know that 5 million people don’t yet get paid it… and just getting a Living Wage will not be enough.

Sheffield Equality Group: the Whitehall Study and how it turned stress upside down 7pm-9pm,  Wednesday  7th November Quaker Meeting House, 10 St James St. S1 2EW
This month an informal presentation and discussion about the Whitehall Study, which famously found that people in jobs with lower pay and with less control suffered more health problems, contradicting previous assumptions that stress was a problem of high status jobs. Also on the agenda: John Lewis and the Cleaners, the Living Wage. The group is an autonomous group affiliated to the national Equality Trust and meets on the first Wednesday of every month. A Working Men’s Club in Sheffield

47 years ago filmmaker Peter Nestler came to Sheffield to create his unique portrait of the Dial House working men’s club which he shot in 1965 while also filming in the streets and factories of Sheffield, capturing the life of the working class at the time.
